The California Hospice Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable foundation that advocates for patients with life-limiting illnesses and their families through public outreach, education and research. We are committed to improving end-of-life care and expanding access to hospice and palliative care with the goal of profoundly enhancing the quality of life for people who are suffering, and for their families and loved ones.
Created in 1986, we are governed by a volunteer Board of Trustees composed of hospice professionals and community members from across the state. All trustees serve without compensation for their time or expenses.
Our accounting records are audited annually by an independent accountancy firm, and we file an annual report each year with California's Attorney General. We also file an IRS Form 990 each year. Both reports are public records and can be viewed in our office or through the websites of the Attorney General and the Internal Revenue Service.
The Foundation provides direct referrals to hospice providers in California and Nevada. Staff is available during business hours to provide free information regarding hospice services, including Medicare and Medi-Cal coverage. Or view a list of our members (in pdf format - see note below.)
